Update September 2006

The Last Embrace

Newly signed to the LDR roster, the french band The Last Embrace will see its first full length released on october 2006.

Formed in 1998, the band choose during their formative years to experiment and work on his own sound, giging as much as possible (clubs and festivals such as The Festival de la Rotonde at Hirson with Paradise Lost, Saxon, Shaman, Sonata Artica, After Forever, Misanthrope, The Old Dead Tree or the Metal Female Voices Festival in Brussels with Epica headlining).

After a praised by french medias eponymous self-produced cdep and noticed opening slot for The Gathering at the Elysée Montmartre in 2004, the band still looking for the appropriate line-up finally found the right formula in mid 2005 prior recording just announced first full length with Stephan May (who previously worked with The Old Dead Tree).

Sparzanza are still in the studio working on forthcoming album "Banisher of the Light". it should be completed in early september, then mixed and mastered. Ralf from swedish band Mustasch is guesting on one track.

Update July 2006

Very fine reviews of the Rite new album, "Hobo Metall", still coming !!! Some interviews as well. Here's a sum up:

"aussi efficace qu'un "Strength Beyond Strength" de Pantera, "Of Shit and a Fan" ouvre de manière radicale cet album de Heavy Rock, Trash/Punk/Hardcore musclées Finlandais de Rite. (...)

Gilles Mollet / Rock You #3 (France)

RDoucet / Hard n Heavy # 122, rating: 4/5 (France)

BBages / Rock Hard #? 54, rating: 7,5/10 (France)

Versus magazine: 7,5/10 (France)

Lords of Metal ezine (Benelux), rating:  78/100

Daredevil (Germany), rating:  8/10

"This album just rocks from beginning till end with infectious songs. Surely a band for fans of Danko Jones and Peter Pan Speedrock"
B
rutalism.com (Benelux)

"if you enjoy music in the style of Superjoint Ritual, Crowbar, if you enjoy hardcore, you will be AN INSTANT FAN. Because this stuff is terrific. It's loud as hell, it's overwhelming and it will most definitely annoy your neighbor, which is a good thing. Rite have delivered an album that can only be compared to a monster truck that lacks brakes, and is pllowing it's way through an audience of decadent stupid hotdog poodle owners"

Update June 2006

Thanks to all supporters and fans who came to the Longfellow Deeds festivals last may !! Mighty fun and worth the work. Rite had the opportunity to play France for the first time and offered a setlist mixing new songs from their very fine new opus "Hobo Metall" which is having very fine reviews and older ones. They proved to the audience that even if their long standing bass player and friend decided a few hours prior taking their flight to France to quit the band, they can deliver on stage !!!! For the occasion Janne played the bass, Sami took care of all guitar works. Nevertheless, fast, trash, explosive and with no mercy, could be some of the words best describing their stage presence.?It was not an easy task to open the nights, especially under these circumstances, but they did it with taste, energy: many thanks to Janne, Jarrko, Juha and Sami ! It is maybe a bit early, but if everything goes as planned, Rite should be able to announce officially the name of their new bass player very shortly. For the time being, the band is rehearsing for upcoming gigs in Finland (see tour dates section) with mysterious replacement.

Regarding Honcho & Sparzanza, France is no news for them as they already played twice before last november, but they were delighted as well to see and meet you again. Sparzanza played some more songs from their forthcoming third album "Banisher of the Light", planned for release in Europe this autumn, such as "Dead Rising" (the studio version will have Peter Dolving from The Haunted as guest vocal!), "Going Down", "Music to Interrogate By", "Chasing the Dragon".?

It seems, Honcho are back at work and eager to rehearse new songs for upcoming album; They played one new instrumental to start with in Paris and did 2 new numbers the next day in Strasbourg!! Holy ................ ! The least we can say, is: the band's new material is even more groovy and atmospheric and on top of that there is THE VOICE of Lars Erik Satheren !!!

Please check the picture section for pictures of the may 2006 Paris gig. Some other pictures following that link:

Two live reports of the Longfellow Deeds Festival (second edition) available in the french issues of Rock Hard and Hard n Heavy.?

Work on the Honcho and Sparzanza live dvd is nearly done, expect releases before end of 2006. The Paris november gig was filmed with 6 cameras.

Update may 2006

Buzzville Records new releases :

Generous Maria goes Electricism!
Retro-rockers Generous Maria just released their new album "Electricism"
. It is the second full album for these 5 guys from Gothenborg, Sweden. "Electricism" was produced by guitarplayer Dan Johansson and was mastered at the Mastering Room in Gothenborg, Sweden by Goran Finnberg (e.g. Spiritual Beggars, The Quill, Opeth, Blind Dog, The Haunted,?).

Christian Smedström (The Awesome Machine) plays additional guitar on the track "Precious And Grace" and the Italian cult-artists collective Malleus were - again, as they also made the one for "Command Of The New Rock" release - responsible for the album artwork.

Generous Maria played a selected amount of gigs in the Netherlands, Belgium & Germany to start the promotion for the new album and will be back with an extended Euro-tour by the end of the year.

Some quotes:

Metal-Nose:

"Nothing but praise for "Electricism"..." score: 9/10

Stoner Rock Chick:
"So for anyone who misses good old days of rock and roll that almost necessitates consuming large quantities of alcohol (among other things) than this should be your next purchase."

NineHertz:
"Opening number 'The Chilling Effect' grabs you by the proverbials and throws you around the room with a riff akin to falling under a Eurostar train and not being dropped until Paris. This is bloody brilliant!"

Sengir ready for Metal Female Voices Fest Vol. 4... and Beautiful Voices Vol. 2

Belgium's N. 1 goth rockers Sengir are confirmed for the Metal Female Voices Fest IV on October 21. The band will perform on the famous MFVF festival for the 3rd time and they will share the stage with Midnattsol, Skeptikal Minds, Lullacry, Theatres des Vampires, More details & bands will be confirmed soon. The band just played the 2006 edition of the Graspop Metal Meeting, together with bands like e.g. Leaves' Eyes, Stream Of Passion, After Forever, and Lacuna Coil. Also in 2005 Sengir played at the biggest metal festival in Belgium.

Earlier this year the band released the follow up for their critically acclaimed debut album. For Sengir the release of "Guilty Water" (in February 2003) was the beginning of a more than successful series of gigs and tours (together with e.g. After Forever, Orphanage, Autumn, Trail Of Tears, Epica, Nightwish) in Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK.

On September 8th, the song "Calling" will be part of "Beautiful Voices Vol. 2", a audio + video collection featuring bands like e.g. Nightwish, Lacuna Coil, Moonspell, Therion, Tapping The Vein, Sirenia, Edenbridge, Luca Turilli, and of course Sengir. The video part will include other female fronted bands like e.g. L' Ame Immortelle, After Forever, Epica, Xandria, Visions Of Atlantis, Lullacry, Arch Enemy, Crucified Barbara, and Doro. The ?Beautiful Voices Vol. 2? collection will be released as a cd + dvd package via Nuclear Blast Records.

In the meantime, Sengir "Sign of Devotion" was album of the week on the Nocturnal Tears radio show (june 14) in France, the show plays Sengir's new songs on a very regular basis, thanks to Ludo !!

Some nice reviews as well in the french medias such as Rock One, Les Accros du Metal

From Brussels with love! ...and groove!

The first release on the new Buzzville-imprint BuzzTown (yep... they confess...the Buzzville guys had some drinks before they discussed the name...) will be Stockholm Syndrom of Kube. Hailing from the centre of Belgium, Kube was born on a gloomy night of the year 1997. After a bunch of gig's with band's like Hulk and Ufomammuth they recorded and mixed their first album "Stockholm Syndrom" at the Indie-R studio (Hulk, Yel, Bai kamara Jr). Their common influences were and still are: Kyuss, Motorpsycho, Black Sabbath, the Melvins, QOTSA? Their style and universe: twisted love, vicious humour, contained hatred and outrageous violence are their favourite themes.

BuzzTown Productions was created to focus on new and upcoming rock/metal bands that are based in the Benelux region .

Artimus Pyledriver and Monkey3

First french releases from the Buzzville catalogue available in France starting this october thru Longfellow Deeds / Overcome Distribution. More to come in november.

http://www.artimuspyledriver.com

In 2002, Artimus Pyledriver released their very first 5 track EP “Southern Fried Rock” which the band dishes out an angry, soulful, almost Southern blues riff-rock, bottom-heavy like COC and driving at high energy consistently from start to finish. Vocals are gritty and angry but nice and melodic throughout. The guitars are of chunky overdriven monster tone and thick chord progressions....that was 2002.
In 2004 the band not only did 3 weeks US tour as support of local heroes Nashville Pussy, but also recorded their debut album, simply titled "Artimus Pyledriver".
The album was produced by the band, together with Matt Washburn and Dave Angstrom (from Supafuzz and Hermano fame) and features the best songs the band wrote the past years and is ass kickin' once more. Only this time, Artimus Pyledriver kick hard. Very hard !
In April 2005 the Artimus boys hooked up with Hank Williams III for 6 weeks US Tour.

Artimus Pyldriver is equal part Southern Rock and Jack Daniels : straight, no ice, no glass, just leave the bottle ! Hell Yeah !

"Artimus Pyledriver are masters of the moonshine-stained riff.... Redneck anthams with the true spirit of bullshit-free rock'n'roll at its finest. Glorious stuff" KKKK-review, Kerrang, UK

“Not only does their live sound hit like a thousand anvils, these Atlanta boys delivered stunning visual performances as well. Their spastic singer was gifted with an explosive stage presence and a seriously evil voice. Sandpapery and shrill, the last time I heard a demonic voice like that was on Skinny Puppy's "Tin Omen", and even Nivek Ogre needed a voice processor to create such an effect. With water dramatically splashing off his drums and a maniacal smile, the drummer brought his share of raving kinesis to the performance as well. And seen live, their sledgehammer guitar work was much more technically demanding than one would expect. Kick ass, just plain kick ass.”
-Bao Le-Huu Music Columnist  OrlandoCityBeat

“I hate going on after these guys”:-Ruyter Suys Nashville Pussy

”No matter what you call it, Artimus Pyldriver's sound takes the blues-inflected sludge of its influences and adds a dose of ass-kickin,' monster truck fury.”
-Jonathan Williams, Music Editor Prick Magazine

”Artimus Pyledriver is jamming the beer-drinking, hell-raising, high-octane redneck rock in the tradition of Mountain and modern rippers Bad Wizard. I turned this up until the police came by and wanted to know who in the hell that band was.”
-H. Barry Zimmerman Scratch Magazine

”This is Southern Rawk at it´s best. The music of Artimus Pyledriver is pure energy, bluessoaked riffs with a lot of Metal in it and a raw voice which fits fucking  great to the music and gives the whole thing a damn good groove”
-RB Daredevil Magazine

http://www.monkeythree.com

Monkey3 started in January 2000 in Lausanne (Switzerland). After a long period of jam sessions, the band decided to create their own material. In the beginning there was only Gioconda (guitar), Picasso (Bass) and Walter (Drums&Percussions). In 2001 Darkmann (keyboard's) joined the band for some live performances and the recording of the first demo in 2001.

The actual band (2003) is composed by the original trio Gioconda, Walter and Picasso.

Monkey's main Influences are: Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and some other Heavy rock bands.

This is what Stonerrock.com had to say about this release : “Ahhhh. This is the kind of album I like best!! I've never heard a single thing about the band ever, not even their name, and their CD shows up and completely blows me away! Monkey3's debut self titled CD is absolutely killer in the same way as 35007's "Liquid" - but tons heavier and with many more twists and turns. Think Ufomammut meets 35007!!”

This is Monkey3, a Stonerrock formation from Switzerland (…not Sweden, …not Swaziland but Switzerland…dude!).

“Monkey3” was originally released by the band as a limited digi-pack on 1.000 copies and was only available via a few webstores and underground distribution. The band inked a deal with Buzzville Records in the beginning of 2004 and starts this collaboration with the re-issue of their debut album “Monkey3” (featuring alternative cover artwork) and a tour in the Benelux, Germany and U.K. in September/October to promote their debut album. More dates in November in France and Benelux.

- Rite (Finland) new recordings

Next Longfellow Deeds Records production will be the new Rite album. At this time, the band is already in the studio with Arttu Sarvanne (Zerocharisma, ..), the album will then be mastered by Mika Jussila @ Finnvox Studios ! Tentatively titled "Hobo Metall", this new opus will be available on retail in early 2006. In the meantime, Longfellow Deeds will distribute in France and Benelux their "The Creep Had It Coming" cdep which is the perfect taster for the new album.

- Sparzanza working on new songs

After some swedish and finnish live dates, the band is back working on new songs for forthcoming album. They just never stop !! Soon they will once again go on the road, this time heading to Benelux and France.

¤ Honcho are back to shake the ground again with a new album ! "Burning in Water, Drowning in Fire", the band's second full length is the follow up of the acclaimed "Corporate Rock" (Water Dragon/Longfellow Deeds).

Gibson fuelled 70's inspired riffs, attitude and groove are still on the menu, but the norge rockers of Honcho have this time taken a big break to compose the songs before recording their new opus. The appropriate and effective production of "Burning in Water, Drowning in Fire" will help them gain some more recognition and friends inside and outside Scandinavia.

¤ Recorded and mixed by Honcho and Thomas Sorlie at Subchannel Studios, final mastering done at Strype Audio in Oslo.

¤ 9 new groove-ladden tracks available very soon:

- December 2004: Switzerland

- Monday January 17, 2005: Scandinavia

¤ Bio: in their own words:
Steinar says about Honcho: “Honcho started out in '99 when Mathias (our first guitar player) and Steinar hooked up in Oslo. We tried out several drummers Spinal Tap style before we finally settled with Kenneth. Mathias went back to his native Sweden. It took two guitarists to replace him; Hakon and Jorgen. Trond joined forces doing throat chores at the same time as Kenny. This was the lineup that played on the "Corporate Rock" album. Then some changes were due. Jorgen left. We got Rino instead, the guitar player from D.D.R. Later on this year we replaced our singer Trond with Lars Si, the FAMOUS voice from the legendary Norvegian grunge band Jack In The Box. He also did bass duties for Khold. We've been fans of his voice for years. We made our second record in May, due to release January 2005.”

¤ Line up:
Rino Bambino – guitar, lead guitar
Steinar Knapstad – bass
Kenneth Andersen – Drums
Lars Erik Si – Vocal, organs, percussion
Håkon Eng – guitar
